Donald W. Hanson has over 35 years of experience in U.S. intellectual property law, including patent and trademark preparation and prosecution, trademark oppositions, designs, copyright, licensing, litigation, and interference.


Don’s technical specialties include a wide range of technologies in chemical engineering and biotechnology.  He has worked on cases dealing with polymers, semiconductors, batteries, refrigerants, manufacturing processes, printed circuit boards, materials, metallurgy, and nanotechnology.


Don received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University, and a J.D. degree with honors from The George Washington University.


Don enjoys watching college basketball and Iowa football games, and is an avid supporter of a local college basketball team.


He is married to Lee, and has a son, Andrew, who graduated from The University of Virginia and is currently a civil engineer.
